Quebec Resident Standard
Hello, I was notified last time that by regulation, residents of Quebec are not allowed to participate. By residency, however, do you mean legally considered to be provincial resident or anyone who currently lives in the region? By this, I am a legal Canadian citizen and live/study in Quebec but am not considered Quebec resident by law. Likewise, some of my friends also have residency belonging to different provinces or countries outside Quebec but are currently enrolled in Quebecois school and live in Quebec. We pay non-Quebec tuition as such. I guess this is close to Out-state student status in America. Are competitors in such circumstances allowed to participate?
Thank you

Great question Sanghoo. We're going to investigate a little further to give you the most accurate response. We'll get back to you soon! In the meantime, can you please let me know where your other team members are citizens of? Which countries or provinces? Please feel free to email me directly at khimee@devpost.com. Thanks!

Hi Sanghoo,
As long as you're not a legal resident of Quebec then you are eligible to participate. I hope that helps!

I'm a Quebec full time resident, could I have more info on why I can't participate? It's not like we are in a war zone or anything?!

Hi Alexandre,
I'm sorry but Quebec has very strict laws/regulations regarding participating and receiving prizes from international competitions. Therefore, legal residents of Quebec are not permitted to participate in respect of these laws.
There are several articles that explain this but here's one for your reference: https://www.thebalanceeveryday.com/why-are-so-many-competitions-void-in-quebec-896835
Thanks,
Khimee
